Transparent Supply Chain

We are transparents

Transparency is key for us. With a transparent supply chain, we enable companies to identify and measure their environmental impact.

Using the most advanced technology, we’ve taken transparency to the next level. With blockchain and the highest industry standards certificates, we can prove the sustainability performance and transparency level of your business.

At The right Chairs we only work with certified, high-quality partners to ensure compliance with all relevant environmental and labor condition standards. This is traceable and 100% transparent through our blockchain.

Blockchain Technology

Blockchain technology can create trustable and verifiable records, it is an excellent tool for transparency, traceability and to know the environmental impact of your business. For that reason, The Right Chairs has developed its blockchain-based system.

The Right Chairs Blockchain records the journey of the plastic waste bottles, step-by-step, to become a finished textile product and allows our customers to track each step in the value chain of the fabrics that they ordered, to create a traceable record that secures the compliance of the materials throughout the manufacturing process. It works by recording each transaction within the supply chain using smart contracts.

What do we secure with The Right Chairs Blockchain?

  • Transparency of the supply-chain
  • Source and journey of the recycled materials from waste to product
  • Compliance and certifications of each supplier involved in the chain (such as certificated by Global Recycling Standard (GRS)
It allows us to offer you the highest sustainability and recycling certifications upon request. For each production order, we can support your communication with an environmental impact report (EIR). This includes the Waste2Wear RA-3 Standard recycling assurance test.

Recycling Assurance 3-Step Standard (RA3)

The Right Chairs Recycling Assurance 3-Step Standard (RA3), assures customers that our fabrics and textile products contain actual recycled plastic content. It also guarantees the number of plastic bottles used in a fabric and the transparency of your business. It can be applied to fibres, yarn fabrics, and final products.

The test consists of three steps:

  • Transparency of the supply-chain
  • Source and journey of the recycled materials from waste to product
  • Compliance and certifications of each supplier involved in the chain (such as certificated by Global Recycling Standard (GRS)
When passed, a certificate is issued with the testing reports added to our database. All the documents can be accessed online. Every company receives a Waste2Wear® RA-3 Standard certificate per production order, which includes a report on the environmental impact savings. We specify not only the number of recycled plastic bottles but also water and energy savings. The testing is offered as a service to companies that wish to verify their RPET marked products, and also do random tests of our products as double security together with the blockchain tracing.

Environmental Impact Report (EIR)

Using recycled plastics in the production of polyester has many positive effects on the environment, not only by reducing the plastic waste that ends up in landfills, rivers, and the ocean. There are fewer carbon emissions related to RPET, and also less water used in the production, etc.

Our Environmental Impact Report includes detailed impact calculations comparing RPET to virgin polyester as raw material:

  • How many bottles are used to produce the specific item
  • How much lower are total carbon emissions
  • How much water is saved in production
  • How much energy is saved

Many companies wish to share the story with the end-users of their recycled products. That’s why we associate data that makes it easy to understand the environmental impact a company is having. For example: how long it will take for a tree to absorb the carbon dioxide, how many containers for bottles this means, etc.

The approach to do these calculations is from Cradle to product Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Elements included are raw materials acquisition, transportation, production, consumption, and end-of-life. The LCA is standardised by the ISO 14040 series, ISO 14040 2006 – Principles and framework (ISO 2006 a( and ISO 14044: 2006 – Requirements and guidelines (ISO 2006b).

Global Recycle Standard and third-party certifications

We’ve worked with customers truly committed to sustainability to certify their complete value chain. With our know-how we unburden them throughout the process of getting these certifications realised, such as OEKO-TEX, BSCI and GRS (Global Recycling Standard).

GRS is the industry standard certification to verify recycled content in a product. It also verifies responsible social, environmental and chemical practices throughout its production. Waste2Wear has taken the GRS certification process to the next level by adding our network of partners, such as dyeing mills, garment factories, etc. This way, our complete value chain can be certified and the GRS certification logo on the final packaging is possible.

This makes Waste2Wear unique in the textile and fashion industry. Check our FAQ to see the full list of certifications that we offer.
